Heather Romo, a Sales Administrator here at MacroAir Technologies, has a daughter who plays on a U12 soccer team and this year we’ve had the privilege of sponsoring the Mint Chicks. Heather recently gave me a recap of the team’s playoff games, which were played in December. I was inspired by the heart and tenacity with which these young girls played and thought I’d share with you a synopsis of the playoffs.

As Heather describes, the girls played in two playoff games, both of which were held during some unbelievably wet and rainy weather conditions. They won the first game 3-0, which was quite a victory in itself, as it was against a rival team that they had always tied with in their previous games during the season. Of course, the girls were very excited for the second game, which was to decide which team placed first and second in the division.

Because they only had nine players for the second game, there were no substitutes and the girls had to play all four quarters. They were determined to play well and because of the rain, the field conditions were so poor and full of mud and water puddles. The Mint Chicks were the first to score and they held their opponents off until the fourth quarter, when the score was tied at 1-1. The game went into overtime and the girls had to play two additional five-minute quarters, with the winner being determined by whichever team scored the most goals in the ten minutes.

Although our Mint Chicks were not ultimately victorious, we are so proud of them for coming in second place! This month they are moving on to the area tournaments and we wish them the best of luck. We were honored to have had the opportunity to sponsor the team and support the AYSO soccer league.

Congratulations Mint Chicks! We are proud of you!
