Energy Savings

MacroAir HVLS Fans Can Save You Money For Years To Come!

Thanks to the laws of physics, where heat rises, you can increase your bottom line and pay back your investment quickly by adding MacroAir HVLS commercial fans to your facility. By using just one of our energy efficient commercial fans in 20,000 square feet of space, you should be able to generate significant savings of 20% or more through gentle mixing and destratification of the air.

Taken from the United States Energy Information Administration, Energy efficient HVLS commercial fans can decrease kilowatt consumption and save on energy bills. Check with your State and local utility company for rebates, grants, and incentives related to MacroAir HVLS energy efficient commercial fans.

The following chart shows you the financial benefits by region that are created by a 20% savings in energy usage resulting from only a 10-degree difference in temperature between the floor and a 20-foot ceiling. For every additional 10 feet of height, or for every 5 degrees of temperature difference, you may realize additional savings of approximately 10% in your annual heating bills using our commercial fans.

Contact your local MacroAir representative  for an analysis of your facility’s potential savings, and learn more about how you can stop energy costs from going through the roof!

The Small Print: Using readily available ASHRE data on city-specific heating degree days (HDD) and based on current natural gas cost estimates per BTU ($11.30 per MCF), and conservative facility design criteria; we calculated annual savings, annual and 5 year return on investment (ROI), and 5 year net present value (NPV) of the investment assuming an installed cost per commercial fan of $5,500 and an annual interest rate of 6%. We assumed no increase in energy costs over the 5 year period (so you know your actual results could be much better). Actual installed commercial fan costs per 20,000 square feet of facility may vary depending on quantity purchased, regional and site-specific installation costs, and air movement challenges and objectives. A ceiling height of 20 FT was used in these calculations. Best results for indoor applications will be achieved with our energy efficient 20′ and 24′ MacroAir HVLS fans having WhisperFoil XL™ blades, 1 hp motors, variable fan speed, and reverse capability.

As you can see from the above, along with a rapid payback on your investment, installing MacroAir HVLS fans in your facility can mean big energy savings for years to come – money you can put back in your pocket or use to grow your business.

green

We, at MacroAir feel we really make The Greenest Fan on Earth!
Being green is described as being good for the environment.  We help reduce energy use and in turn, reduce a company’s carbon footprint.

Here are some of the advantages of going green with MacroAir HVLS fans.

  • Efficient- to our knowledge, no other commercial fan on earth moves as much air (certified) for so little power consumption (certified).  CFM/Watt or Person Cooled/Watt or Cooled Per Square Foot of Work Space/Watt.   The Six Blade Industrial Fan is more efficient because the blade is moving faster (more efficient speed range) than the original Ten Blade Series.
  • Low carbon foot print-No other “HVLS” industrial fan has less aluminum. The savings over the older 10 blade unit is 13 %. This means that our 6 blade fans require 13% less power to build than the older 10 blade units.
  • Weight- The 6 blade commercial fans are lighter than the 10 blade commercial fans requiring less fuel to ship.
  • Longevity

Six Blade commercial fans run faster than the “original” ten blade commercial fans.

Benefits of this feature are:

  • Longevity- Torque vs. speed as related to horsepower.

————————————————–Torque * RPM
——————————-Horsepower= ———————-
——————————————————–5252

As the RPM goes up, the Torque goes down for the same horsepower. Because 6 blade commercial fans run slightly faster than 10 blade commercial fans the torque is lower. Torque is what hurts motors, bearings and gear reducers so less torque is more life. What does this have to do with being green? If carbon footprint is a legitimate concern and the gearbox or motor needs to be replaced every few years instead of every 10 – 12 years the carbon footprint of the unit that is designed with more service factor has a lower carbon footprint.

  • Anything that increases the life of the unit can realistically be considered a green feature.

Things that increase life are:

  • Service factor (6 blade over 10 blade)
  • Wiring package
  • Close VFD
  • Variable frequency drive, VFD filter
  • Ease of installation. If it is installed correctly it can last a lifetime.
  • Customer service and technical support. If it is installed correctly it can last a lifetime.
